Our Focus
Three interconnected pillars guiding our research and policy work
Democratic Governance and Information Integrity
We examine how AI systems shape democratic processes, public trust, and the information environment. We analyze risks associated with disinformation, synthetic media, large-scale persuasion, and automated narrative manipulation that can affect elections, institutional legitimacy, and shared understanding.
Economic and Institutional Stability
We focus on the implications of AI-driven automation, algorithmic decision-making, and concentration of technological power for economic systems and public institutions. We examine risks such as labor displacement, market concentration, and large-scale economic disruption. The research supports policy development, to strengthen economic resilience and continuity.
Human Agency and Social Systems
We address how the integration of AI into daily life affects human autonomy, fairness, dignity, and social relationships. We examine the impacts of algorithmic decision-making on individuals, families, communities, and human-centered social structures. The work advances ethical design principles, and governance frameworks to ensure AI systems support human well-being and social cohesion.
Key Programs
Our programs and projects advancing AI safety and governance
AEGIX Pro-Human AI Index
The AEGIX Pro Human AI Index Report evaluates how effectively governments prioritize human dignity, safety, democratic stability, and long-term societal resilience in an age of intelligent machines. The report examines both present day AI deployment and forward-looking preparedness for increasingly capable systems, including artificial general intelligence (AGI) and artificial superintelligence (ASI).
AI and Human Trafficking Prevention
This program analyzes how artificial intelligence systems are facilitating, scaling, and concealing human trafficking and related forms of exploitation. It focuses on near- and medium-term risks, including AI-enabled recruitment, synthetic identities, financial automation, and platform dynamics, and provides policy recommendations to inform prevention, detection, and institutional responses.
Sectoral Impact Working Groups
An initiative that examines how AI is reshaping governance, risk, and institutional practice across critical domains. Drawing on AEGIX's cross-cutting research, these groups produce sector-specific analysis, frameworks, and recommendations to support responsible adoption, risk management, and policy development. Focus areas include transportation, banking and finance, healthcare, education, and employment.
Safe AI Design Lab
A collaborative space for policymakers, domain experts, and community leaders to co-create governance prototypes, policy templates, and safety-by-design guidelines for emerging AI systems. The Safe AI Design Lab focuses on translating research and experience into practical tools that can be tested, iterated, and applied in real-world contexts.
AI Governance Academy
A global training platform designed to develop a robust, interdisciplinary talent pipeline for responsible artificial intelligence governance. The Academy equips policymakers, technologists, executives, researchers, and civil society leaders with the knowledge and practical tools needed to navigate the rapidly evolving challenges at the intersection of AI, ethics, law, and public policy.
Emerging Scholars Program
The AEGIX Emerging Scholars Program supports emerging researchers and practitioners working at the intersection of AI, policy, and societal flourishing. Designed for advanced students and early-career professionals, the program blends mentorship, and hands-on research aligned with AEGIX's core pillars. Global South applicants strongly encouraged.
